How to Make Balushahi Home Recipe - Indian Dessert Balooshahi

Balushahi is a traditional dessert from the Indian subcontinent; popular in Indian, Pakistani, Nepali and Bangladeshi cuisine.
How to make Balushahi Recipe (Balooshahi)

Ingredients

  • Maida (APF) : 1 and half cup
  • Yogurt : 8 tbsp
  • Baking soda : 1/4tsp
  • Ghee : a little over one fourth cup and some more for deep fying
  • Almonds and Powdered Cardamom : 1Tbsp
  • Sugar : 2 cups
  • Water : 1 cup

Method

Sieve flour and baking soda. Rub the ghee into the flour mixture until it becomes crumbly. Add yogurt and knead to soft dough. Cover and leave aside for 40 mins.

Now make small balls of it and make a small dent in the center of each ball. Keeps aside for 10 min. Keep the balls covered.

Now on a medium flame gas, heat ghee and after it is a little hot slip the balls inside and fly on slow to medium gas flame. Flip to other side and fry till golden brown. Let the balls cool completely. It can take up-to 4 to 5 hrs.


Make sugar syrup with two cups sugar and one cup water. Boil sugar and water till sugar dissolves and you get one thread consistency. Gently, put the fried balushahi in the sugar syup. Leave it for 30 mins. After 30 mins. remove balushahi from sugar mixture and let it cool down. Garnish with powdered almond powder.
